How to Install MySQL Server in LINUX
MySQL Server is an open-source relational database(RDBMS) which is world’s second most widely used database.Installation of MySQL Server in Linux involves easy steps. MySQL is a popular choice of database.
There are two versions of mysql database available, namely, MySQL Community Server and Enterprise Server.Enterprise Server comes with extra plugins and extensions.Lets start with the installtion of mysql server using YUM repository
MySQL Server Installation using YUM Package:-
YUM is the package used in linux to install the software. We are going to see installation of mysql using YUM,Below is the list of commands or steps involved in installing mysql.
For Demo, I have chosen the latest version of mysql server. Please refer the mysql community site http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/repo/yum/ where the latest versions of YUM Repositories are listed.
Lets download the mysql57-community-release-el7-7.noarch.rpm [mysql_platform-and-version-specific-package-name.rpm ].
# cd /opt # ls -lrt mysql57-community-release-el7-7.noarch.rpm
Enable the YUM REPO or Install the RPM file to the repositories[adAuto]
# yum localinstall mysql57-community-release-el7-7.noarch.rpm or #rpm -Uvh mysql57-community-release-el7-7.noarch.rpm
